Birth: 1879 Camden, NSW, Australia Death: 12 October 1917 (age 38) France, Killed in Action Cemetery or Memorial: Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium Parents: Untraceable John gave his occupation as Miner when he enlisted 18 April 1915 at Emerald, QLD, and his next of kin his friend Mrs T. (Margaret) Dale, Criterion Hotel, Alpha, QLD. John served in the 31st Battalion A.I.F. He departed Brisbane on the 'Ascanius' 24 May 1915 and arrived Gallipoli September 1915. He arrived France via Egypt June 1916. He was wounded in action (gunshot wound right hand) France 20 July 1916. Private John Joseph FACE was killed in action in France on 12 October 1917 age 38. |
